After a year’s hiatus, we’ve decided that life just isn’t the same without 12 Devs. So this Christmas, 12 Devs of Xmas will make it’s return. Anthony and I had a lot of fun (and did a lot of work) running 12 Devs, and while at the time it was the right decision to bring the project to an end, we now feel the time is right to bring back the series of articles around the Christmas period.
On our final day of the Summer Series, Phil Nash brings us a fantastic article exploring some brand new tech, the Leap Motion. Leap Motion is a brand new kind of controller giving us a touch free way of interacting with software, and as Phil will show us it also brings us a new way of interacting with the web!
We're kicking off our latest feature Thoughts with a subject that's being talked about a lot lately in the web industry, the topic of education. We've asked a selection of people from the web industry to write short thoughts based on their experiences in the web industry covering a wide range of areas. From running workshops to attending college as well as something that is being talked about more recently in the industry, apprenticeships.
Thoughts is going to be a long running series and over time will aim to cover a whole host of different topics.
The fourth 12 Devs event will take place in January. We’ll be once again taking over the Shoreditch Works Village Hall for another evening of talks, company and some amazing food & drink too!
Our first three events have been incredible and at our last event at our new home at the Village Hall saw over 120 attendees! The new structure introduced last time out will once again see two main speakers as well as two brand new speakers in our 12 Devs 12 Minutes talks. This time round we have the fantastic Laura Kalbag, one of our past writers from the 12 Devs of Xmas series as well as a special guest keynote still to be confirmed. Our 12 Devs 12 Minutes talks come from another 12 Devs of Xmas writer Stephen Fulljames, and another brand new speaker, Andrew Foster.
We look forward to seeing you all there!
And remember, if you’re interested in speaking as part of the 12 Devs 12 Minutes talks at a future event, get in touch!
Sadly, the 12 Devs events—and indeed the whole 12Devs party in its current guise—will be coming to an end. 12 Devs—and the 12 Devs of Xmas that started it all—has been immense fun. Three years of learning and doing for all of us involved but for now it’s time for this project to end and for us as organisers move on and find new passions and pursuits.
Coming at the start of July on the run up to our second event will be our first series of 12 articles since launching 12 Devs. Similar to the 12 Devs of Xmas series we will have 12 fantastic writers covering some of the latest and greatest technologies and techniques over the course of 12 days. Starting on the 6th of July and finishing the day befoe 12 Devs of Summer it's sure to be a fantastic series to get stuck into!
Sign up to the newsletter below to be the first to hear about the upcoming writers and topics we'll be covering in July.
The project that started it all; an article a day for the 12 Days of Xmas (see what we did there?). We're looking for writers for this years articles. Someone who can elequently talk about a new technology and is willing to share and contribute to our amazing industry.
